Meet Katie:
Years of civic engagement and hands-on work with candidates and passionate volunteers have equipped me with the experience and knowledge to help build a stronger bench at the state and local levels. As Secretary, I will ensure that Utah Democratic Party volunteers, members, and candidates have the resources they need to continue the fight for democracy.

Serving as Chair of the Utah County Democratic Party and Second Vice Chair of the Disability Caucus has reinforced my belief that we need experienced leadership that truly understands how Counties and Caucuses operate. These grassroots entities are the foundation of our party—where we find our best volunteers, candidates, and future leaders. Yet, too often, they are overlooked and under-supported.

My goal is to change that by expanding access to resources, improving organization and communication, and rebuilding our volunteer base to strengthen our party from the ground up. With my experience in high-level organizational management and deep understanding of party operations, I am ready to help grow a stronger, more successful Utah Democratic Party.
Why I’m Running for Secretary of the Utah Democratic Party

I am deeply committed to supporting Democratic values and ensuring that our party operates efficiently at every level. My experience, organizational expertise, and dedication to progressive principles make me well-suited for this role.
Strong Organizational & Leadership Skills

I manage the Compliance and Privacy Department of a multi-million-dollar international company, a role that requires the highest level of organization and attention to detail. As Secretary, I will ensure that meeting minutes, records, and communications are clear, consistent, and easily accessible—helping our party function smoothly and effectively.

Experience at All Levels of the Party

Strong leadership requires understanding every level of the party, not just the top. As chair of the Utah County Democratic Party and Second Vice Chair of the Disability Caucus, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges many Caucuses and County Parties face.
My top priority will be expanding the grant program and streamlining the process for County Parties and Caucuses to access funding. Many don’t even know these resources exist; we need leadership to prioritize their success.

Financial & Resources Transparency
I believe in transparency and accountability when working with finances or resources. I will partner with the UDP Treasurer to ensure that the financial reports and resource allocations are communicated and accessible so party members know exactly how funds are being used to support Democratic values and local initiatives.
Commitment to Democratic Values

I am dedicated to the core principles of the Democratic Party—social justice, equality, and progress. Our party’s resources should only support candidates who uphold these values, and I will work to ensure that remains the case.

Rebuilding Our Volunteer Base
​
Political success is a team effort, yet we are losing volunteers at an alarming rate. Seven County Chairs have resigned this year alone—more than double the usual cycle. Many of our most dedicated volunteers feel burned out or unsupported.
I will work to re-engage and expand our volunteer network by ensuring County Parties and Caucuses have the resources they need. This includes helping Young Democrats activate campus charters and empowering grassroots organizations to recruit and retain new members. I know from personal experience that the best way to grow our party is through these social and community-driven spaces.
